Fishing on the Shannon
The estate offers the visitor the opportunity to indulge in some of the best fishing in Ireland, as the River Shannon flows along the bottom of our gardens. Our angling manager will provide you with expert guidance for all your fishing needs. Six miles away at Killaloe, on the shores of Lough Derg, Ireland’s main pleasure lake, and a wide variety of water sports are available including boating, swimming and water skiing.
Walking
This is truly the best way to absorb the beauty of the Shannon Region. A network of quiet country roads and lanes, forest paths and mountain trails will take you into the heart of beautiful, rural countryside. For the serious walker there are many well-organised routes in the loveliest areas, which are all clearly signposted.
Cycling
Lough Derg Cycleway - Lough Derg, which covers 32,000 acres, is one of the largest and most beautiful lakes in Ireland. Low hills and mountains with a shoreline of marvellous inlets and bays surrounding it offer a wealth of routes to choose from along quiet country roads with a relatively flat terrain. With its breathtaking scenery, the area has been referred to as 'a cyclist's paradise'.
Golf
Wherever you go in County Limerick you are never far away from a golf course. You will find more than 30 quality courses, each one uniquely challenging and with a character that is visually exciting. Golfers can test their skills from the windswept dunes of championship links, or simply play a relaxing eighteen holes on mature parkland of tree-lined fairways.
Horse Riding
The geography of the region is ideally suited to horse riding throughout the entire year, and especially over the winter months during the hunting season. Mountain trails, forest paths, country lanes and deserted beaches all compete in popularity. There are many riding centres offering a wide range of facilities for the novice or experienced rider.
